Trinidad and Tobago is well known for its colourful culture, rhythmic music, tasty food and is the epitome of an island paradise sprinkled with the best Carnival on earth. Trinidad is not a hot destination real estate market in the same way its Caribbean counterparts Barbados, Grenada, St. Lucia are. Trinidad’s real estate market is more tight knit and segregated by locational boundaries. Navigating this market can be tricky and established, experienced agent’s are a must have! We are very fortunate at Hart & Co. to be born out of such a large, competitive and dynamic market – yet we have the innate island “perk” of “everyone knows, everyone here on this island”.
In my not so humble opinion, being a real estate agent is a dream job! You work independently and determine your daily schedule. You draw enthusiasm and motivation from within while you hone your skills for sales and interpersonal communication. Not to mention that the products you are selling are a core human necessity.
On top of all these amazing factors of working in this glorious and lucrative field, being a real estate agent in Trinidad and Tobago means that you benefit immensely from your locational bounty. While we admit that being a Real Estate professional in Trinidad is not without its challenges (our government systems and bureaucracy are very taxing), we enjoy a host of other positives that can add joy and colour into our daily work.
- Architecture – Our local, original architecture is quite frankly, stunning. The Traditional
style of most* Trinbagonian homes allows for wide doorways, large windows, vaulted
ceilings, and multiple patios/verandahs that provide airflow and cool comfortable
retreats. These more traditionally inspired homes make for great subjects to
photograph and tour. However, stepping away from traditional design also has its perks
and these varied architectural styles make our listing portfolio diverse and appealing to
different tastes and audiences. - Weather – Our local tropical climate allows for optimal conditions for year-round real
estate activity. We are not hindered by changing seasons and fluctuating temperatures
that can impede the listing or viewing process or that drastically change the property’s
characteristics. In T&T, what you see is what you get! Not to mention, the bright daily
sunshine and blue skies are very useful when filming or photographing a property. - Vegetation – Is there anything more beautiful than a lush yard of tropical foliage, or the
shade of an ancient Samaan tree over a plot of undulating land? Our vegetation is
optimal and doesn’t just add beauty, but it also lends itself to our thick forested hillsides
and intricately rooted grassy cover that prevents soil erosion and slippage. Note: our
hillsides are becoming more densely populated by the year. Our real estate products are
more diverse as we can transverse all parts of the island – flat land, hillsides, and coastal
terrain are all ready to be sold. - Culture – It is a core cultural trait of Trinis to welcome you into their homes with open
arms, feed you and show you a good time. Our experience as real estate agents is no
different. So many house-proud clients welcome us into their homes and allow us to do
a full listing and get comfortable with the space. Being comfortable and knowledgeable
about a listing is one of the key factors in selling or renting it. The energy and enthusiasm you exude when you walk into a space resonate with a client and this can make or block a transaction from happening. Trinidad is also an island culture that believes in the gesture of referrals. If a Trini is impressed and satisfied with a service or product they will shout it from the roof tops. This bodes well for real estate agents who thrive off of referrals and repeat clients.
